Top 3 Linked In Tips for 2012

You have set up a profile on Linked In and now you are wondering; what next? The key point you should be thinking….is, how do I promote me as a brand?

In the past no employee would ever think of themselves as a brand….brands are for companies. It doesn’t matter if you want to get a new job, get promoted, sell more, network-more…. or all of the above you need to create your brand.

Linked In is a great tool to end your obscurity.

#1 Keyword your profile
Don’t use your standard job title if it doesn’t clearly describe what you do. I am a Territory Manager…but on Linked-In my title is Territory Manager & Franchise Coach. Franchise Coach describes more of my daily activities.

#2 Complete the skills section
Most of your profile you will write in sentences just like a resume. The skills section you can list the core skills and industry keywords as bullit points. Linked In profiles will get included in keyword search-engine searches if you include the right mix of search words.

#3 Post interesting articles or ideas
You can share your industry knowledge with your peers. Your posts will be published to all your contacts, if you choose to show all, this can be a great opportunity to get noticed.

Linked In is a great tool to develop you as a brand and expand your network.
