Silo's, Politics and Turf Wars Summary

Key Issue: Most companies suffer from departmental politics that make people in the same company actually work against each other. The cost can be higher turnover, loss of customers, employee frustration and many more...

Solution: People work together during a crisis because there is no time to second guess actions. Example: Hospital ER.

In a time of crisis, if the company is struggling to survive, employees rally together to get the job done.

Model for Combating Silos:
#1 Thematic Goal = The single, temporary and qualitative rallying cry shared by all members of the team. (3-9 months)
#2 Defining Objectives = Actionable building blocks to acheive the thematic goal within the desired time frame.
#3 Standard Operating Objective = The ongoing priorities that must be met period to period as part of maintaining performance. (Don't mistake a standard operative objective like revenue or expenses for a ralling cry)

HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
